In Aspen, Weather Conditions

Did you see it? The Aspen 2016/17 season snowfall forecast is out! People ask us all the time: which clinic will have the best snow?

Now we all know there are no guarantees when it comes the weather! But the more reliable forecasts come from a local Aspen weatherman, Cory Gates. Cory is the real deal in meteorology. Last night in Aspen, Corey shared his winter snowfall forecast and it’s a good one!

He’s predicting 10-20% ABOVE AVERAGE
snowfall this ski season.

Specifically, he’s calling for good snow in November with the heaviest snow falls in December and January as he sees the weather indicators setting up just like they did for the monster Winter of ’83/84. His confidence is a 9 out of 10; probably higher than most meteorologists! If you’re interested you can read the whole story in the local Aspen Daily News.

This is great news for our December clinics. In past years our December clinic participants have skied some amazing powder. The moguls are friendly in December as it takes a lot of skier days to form the Volkswagen size moguls on Bell Mountain. The mountains are quiet in December as most tourists don’t arrive until the day after Christmas. Hotels are offering some incredibly cheap rates – we saw $119/night at a great spot on Main Street. And if you’re 65 or older you can ski for only $34/day. (Rates as of 9/23/16 for December 10-15)

And by the way, it’s snowing in town right now. It will be interesting to see how much snow falls above 10,000 feet.
