Meet Coach Joe

joe nevinBUMPS FOR BOOMERS coach and founder Joe Nevin grew up as a Army brat and followed the typical pattern of moving from base to base. Joe was born in PA. then spent time living on Army bases in TX, LA and CA. He earned his undergraduate degree at USC and an M.S. in Management from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. We’re pretty sure he’s the only M.I.T. graduate who ‘grew up’ to be a ski instructor.

Joe began his career at a High-Tech startup, then worked as a management consultant in the Information Technology field followed by seven years in Banking. He returned to the High-Tech industry in 1979 when Andy Grove recruited him to work at Intel. In 1985 Apple sought his services and, after “surviving” an interview with Steve Jobs, Joe spent the next 12 years at Apple before retiring from Corporate America in 1997.

After retirement Joe started a 2nd career to follow his passion for skiing. Having previously taught skiing at Alpine Meadows in Lake Tahoe, he and his wife Nancy moved to Aspen in 1998 where he began teaching for the Aspen Skiing Company and subsequently founded the BUMPS FOR BOOMERS program.
