Skiboard Training | Skiboards Accelerate Learning

Skiing is all about movement patterns. If you’ve been skiing for awhile, consciously or not,  your body has learned movement patterns to get down the run. But if you’re not skiing the way you want, those grooved patterns might need tweaking. So how do you change those patterns while you’re sliding down a mountain? Read more to learn why skiboard training might be an important part of the equation!

Skiboard Training Reduces Anxiety And Help You Learn Faster

Realizing that it is difficult to remain calm in the face of anxiety and perceived danger, BUMPS FOR BOOMERS uses an innovative approach incorporating skiboard training. Skiboards are very short 95cm shaped skis that, counter-intuitive to the short length, actually help you to be a more balanced skier.

Breaking old movement patterns requires mixing things up a bit. When you click into your skis your body has learned patterns about moving on those skis. It knows what that feels like and it is challenging to change those movements. Click into ski-boards and it’s a whole new world. They are still skis sliding on snow but the short length changes up everything. If you aren’t standing centered on them you’ll get instant feedback. These very maneuverable skis instantly bring out the playfulness in everyone. Consequently, your learning process is fun, you learn more quickly and you experience the following benefits over training on your traditional length skis:

  • Skiboards provide you clear and instantaneous feedback on your stance, producing a more centered and balanced skier.
  • A skiboard’s smaller turning radius provides better speed control enabling patient, rounded turns and reduced anxiety – even in moguls and powder.
  • A skiboard’s shorter length makes turning easier which builds confidence in three-dimensional terrain presented by moguls and powder.
  • Skiboards are substantially lighter than traditional length skis, reducing both fatigue and knee stress.
  • Newly learned skills easily transfer back to your traditional length skis.
  • And, finally, because of all of the above, you quickly move into confidently and safely skiing mogul and powder terrain. Your new confidence enables you to gain important mileage skiing moguls and experience in making terrain selection decisions.
BUMPS FOR BOOMERS

clinics include two full days on ski-boards learning and grooving new movement patterns which transfer directly back to your own skis.

You Will Learn New Skills Dramatically Faster With Skiboard Training

Top skiers and the PSIA National Demo Team train with ski-boards to fine-tune their skiing. Now you can too. You will be amazed at how quickly you will progress, how much control ski-boards provide and you’ll rediscover the effortless joy of skiing.

And newly learned skills easily transfer back to your traditional length skis. However, be aware that ski-boards are addictive and that many BUMPS FOR BOOMERS customers purchase ski-boards and use them for periodic training.

Our goal is not to have you toss away your traditional skis and convert you to ski-boards, but rather to use the best tool for the job. And when teaching you to quickly learn mogul and powder skiing skills, ski-boards deliver benefits that traditional length skis cannot.

Skiboards ski well in up to a foot of Colorado champagne powder. Skiboard training uses your ski boots and ski poles. The use of skiboards are included in the cost of a BUMPS FOR BOOMERS clinic.

Once you are back on traditional length skis during your lesson, you’ll find that we typically recommend a shorter length ski than what you may have previously skied. Most customers discover that with the combination of new ski technology and their slowing Boomer reflexes, shorter length skis perform better in all terrain conditions.
