BUMPS FOR BOOMERS 4-Day Clinic Ski Rental Information
New for the 2019-2020 season, BUMPS FOR BOOMERS clients will be using a short length traditional ski, with releasable binding, for days 1 and 2 of the clinic. The cost of rental for these two days is included in the cost of your clinic. Please stop by Aspen Sports at the St. Regis Hotel between 3-5 pm the day before the clinic. Bring one of your ski boots to have your bindings set. Below are all the details you’ll need to make this a streamlined process.
Day 1 and 2 Equipment Rental
WHERE DO I PICK UP MY SKIS?
At the Aspen Sports store located at the St. Regis Hotel. 303 E. Durant Avenue.
2-1/2 blocks west from Aspen Mountain’s gondola plaza and opposite Wagner Park.
NOTE: There are several Aspen Sports locations in Aspen, but this is the ONLY Aspen Sports location to get your rental equipment for days 1 and 2.
WHAT HOURS IS ASPEN SPORTS OPEN?
Aspen Sports is open between 8 am – 8 pm. You can stop by the store any time to get your skis, but Nancy and Joe (and mascot Maggie) will be at the store between 3pm – 5pm the day before your clinic to say hello and answer any questions you might have.
If you have a flight/shuttle that arrives past 8 pm the day before the clinic starts, please e-mail Nancy and she will coordinate an early morning equipment rental on the day of the clinic.
SHOULD I BRING MY BOOTS TO ASPEN SPORTS TO HAVE THE BINDINGS SET?
Yes. Be sure to bring at least one of your boots into the store so the binding can be properly set.
WHAT IF I NEED TO RENT BOOTS?
There are many shops in Aspen to rent boots. You can conveniently rent boots at Aspen Sports.
WHAT SKI AM I RENTING?
All participants will be skiing these Volkl Deacon skis in a 137 cm length for the first two days of the clinic. Everyone is required to ski on the same ski.
DO I NEED TO BRING POLES FROM HOME?
No, you do not need to bring poles from home. They are included in the rental for days 1 and 2.
AFTER I COMPLETE THE RENTAL, DO I TAKE THE SKIS TO MY HOTEL OVERNIGHT?
It’s up to you. You can take your rental equipment back to your lodging, or you can leave it at Aspen Sports and stop by between 8-8:30 am the morning of the clinic to pick it up and bring it to Gondola Plaza – our clinic meeting location.
WHAT DO I DO WITH THE SKIS AFTER THE FIRST DAY?
The skis will be stored for you at no cost at the base of Aspen Mountain.
WHAT DO I DO WITH THE SKIS AFTER DAY 2?
Please return your skis to Aspen Sports St. Regis before 8 pm.
NEED SOMETHING NEW OR FORGOT SOMETHING?
Aspen Sports offers BFB participants a 10% discount on accessories such as goggles, gloves and helmets. City Market at 711 E. Cooper sells hand warmers, travel size toiletries, over-the-counter medicines, as well as personal oxygen canisters.
IS THERE A PLACE TO STORE MY STREET SHOES/BOOTS DURING THE CLINIC?
Yes. Get options for storing your street shoes/boots near Gondola Plaza. If you don’t want to carry your boots back-and-forth between your lodging and the mountain, Incline Sports offers heated overnight ski boot storage. Talk to Scottie or Julius and ask for the BUMPS FOR BOOMERS discount.
Day 3 and 4 Equipment
You supply your ski equipment for days 3 and 4 of the clinic. Given the cost and hassle of flying your skis/poles from home, most participants rent gear for days 3 and 4. We have negotiated discounts with two rental shops: Aspen Sports (30% off) and Gorsuch (20% off).
Your coach can recommend a specific ski that matches your skiing ability and conditions. Each shop carries different brands of skis so we’ll help you select one that is best for you.
If you’re bringing your own equipment, for optimal learning of new mogul skiing techniques, we recommend that you ski on a ski no longer than 160cm in length.
