Learning how to ski moguls with confidence and full control is much easier than most people think.
Learning how to ski moguls by reading and evaluating a mogul run is like learning a new language. Once you learn what features of a mogul run to look for, and which features are most important, you begin to see the mogul run from a much different perspective, and in a much different light, than you did previously.
Groomed Run Skiing: Skiing on groomed runs is straight-forward and simple. Groomed runs are relatively flat and have consistent snow. There are not many decisions to make. You can turn most anywhere, and one turn is essentially the same as another. There is little need to think about the consequences of turning in one spot versus another.
Mogul And Powder Skiing: That is not the case when you want to learn how to ski moguls or powder terrain. In order to learn how to ski moguls, you need to grasp the following 6 elements of mogul skiing terrain tactics:
(1) Mogul Terrain Structure: understand the anatomy of mogul terrain and how skiing 3-dimensional mogul and powder terrain is differerent from skiing a groomed run. Learn

(3) Different Skiing Lines: learn the four principal ways to ski a mogul run ... and understand the balance, control and reflex speed consequences of each.
(4) The Green Line: learn how to turn a black diamond mogul run into a green run so it is extremely easy to ski. It is the route that offers the most control and is essential when your are first learning how to ski moguls.
(5) The Blue Line: learn how to turn a black diamond mogul run into a blue intermediate mogul skiing run
(6) How To Plan Where You Will Turn: know what your skiing options are in order to make good, safe decisions on how to plan where to make your turns in mogul terrain.
