The Aspen Skiing company announced that the 2007-2008 season will bring the debut of the Elk Camp Meadows beginner area at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola, with a new quad chair, two new surface lifts and six acres of terrain dedicated exclusively to beginners.
The Aspen Skiing Company has announced that a new $17 million children’s center - the Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center - will open for the 2007 - 2008 ski season at Base Village in Snowmass. <!--more-->The new two-story, 25,000-square-foot Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center, located at the intersection of the three new lifts (the Village Express six-pack lift, Sky Cab gondola and Elk Camp Gondola) on Fanny Hill, is the largest capital project in the Aspen Skiing Company’s history.
The Aspen Skiing Company just announced that the Aspen Highlands ski season has been extended for one week - the mountain will close on April 8 instead of the scheduled April 1 closure. "Highland Bowl has the best skiing in the state, if not the country, right now," said Rich Burkley, vice president, mountain operations, Aspen Skiing Company.
Aspen Mountain and Snowmass Mountain open for skiing on November 22, 2007 and close on April 13, 2008. Butermilk Mountain and Aspen Highlands open for skiing on December 8, 2007 and close on April 6, 2008.
In case any of you superpipe fans are wondering - the Winter X games superpipe at the Buttermilk ski area in Aspen, Colorado has the following dimensions: 500 feet long, 56 feet wide and 18 feet high.
Aspen Mountain is the home of the highest performance Ski School in North America. Full Day private ski lessons are available every day from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or by special arrangement. Advance reservations are STRONGLY RECOMMENDED - particularly during peak periods - and require pre-payment. Small group ski lessons (adults only) for levels 5 - 9 are offered every day on Aspen Mountain. Advance reservations are not required. Meet outside the Sundeck Restaurant at the top of Aspen Mountain at 9:45 a.m. with your lift ticket, lesson ticket and equipment. Lessons begin at 10:00 a.m. Lesson tickets may be purchased at any ticket window or at the Ski School desk inside the Sundeck restaurant.  Be sure and allow 20 minutes time to ride the Gondola from the bottom of the mountain to the top.
