A major senior management change was announced tonight (November 13, 2006) by the Aspen Skiing Company. Mike Kaplan has been promoted to the position of President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Kaplan was named COO of the company in July of 2005 and has been with ASC for 13 years. Kaplan began his career in Aspen in the fall of 1993 as Ski School Supervisor at Aspen Mountain. The following year he was promoted to Manager of the Ski/Snowboard School at Snowmass, and then spent four years overseeing the combined Ski/Snowboard Schools of Aspen. In 1999, he took over mountain operations for the four Aspen Skiing Company mountains. Mike replaces Pat O'Donnell who is retiring after 30 years in the ski industry and 13 years as CEO of the Aspen Skiing Company.
