Do You Know The Significance Of United Airlines Flight Numbers ?

Print this pagePrint This Page

If you are going to fly into Aspen for a winter ski vacation do you know why is it important to familiarize yourself with flight numbers for United Express flights? Answer: Any United Express flight number that begins with a 6 is a jet and any flight number that begins with a 7 is a turboprop.

United flies two types of planes in and out of Aspen - a Canadair CRJ-700 jet and a De Havilland Dash 8 Turboprop.

The Canadair CRJ-700 twin engine regional jet is manufactured by Bombardier, and in the United configuration, offers 6 First Class seats, 28 Economy Plus seats and 32 regular Economy seats - for a total of 66 seats. View the United Canadair CRJ-700 seating configuration.

The Canada DHC-8 twin turboprop - popularly known as the Dash 8 - is manuactured by De Havilland and, in the United configuration, has 37 Economy seats. View the United Canada Dash 8 seating configuration.

A word of warning - both aircraft have limited overhead baggage storage. If you have a full size bag it may not fit in the overhead storage and may have to be gate checked.
